How long will it take, and how much will it cost just for the class tuition? It only takes 2 weeks from start to finish to complete our low stress PADI certified OW entry level course. Our tuition is only $195.00 with F/M/S/B purchase. (Hello, that's less than a baby sitter would cost you per/hour) The $20.00 Private lake entry fee for the open water dives is the students responsibility, we have no control over this factor. These are local PADI approved independent dive training sites. This will save YOU a lot of time, expensive fuel, and money. Call us for special discount rates for large groups and for NFP organizations.
How old must I be? How stressful is it? Minimum age is 12 years old when accompanied by parent. Without a parent, you must be 15 years old. Good general health is required. Scuba is a cool and relaxing slow motion sport requiring only a little more effort than swimming a few laps in the pool the way we teach. We are NOT trying to create military combat swimmers!
Do I need to be able to swim? and how well? You need to be able to swim and be comfortable in the water. It is NOT necessary to be an exceptionally strong swimmer. If you are one of those helpless people who panics upon falling into a swimming pool you DO NOT belong here. Non-swimmers should seek some basic swim training BEFORE attempting certified scuba training.
What if I cannot attend all the class or pool training sessions? If your life style, or work schedule requires that you will be absent for any of the required class room, confined water pool training, or open water training it must be made up within 90 days. Otherwise, you could experience a serious delay in completion. Private lessons are available upon request for those with difficult schedules.
My spouse is trying to force me into taking Scuba lessons before our next Caribbean trip? We suggest purchasing the complete PADI training package and DVD set so you can see what you are going to be doing BEFORE starting the course. The worse thing that can happen while reading the book, or eating some popcorn while watching the DVD is that you might learn something about the majority of your planet that is hidden below the sea. If you believe all those silly & scary movies you see on TV, then you should always remain hidden under your bed, avoid lawyers, and never attempt to drive in Houston traffic, especially on weekend nights.
I have great fear of the water and the creepy fish creatures, what can I do? Go and learn to Play Golf or Tennis along with the other boring people. There is very little marine life that represents a hazard to divers. More people are killed from lighting strikes on the local Houston golf courses than from scuba related accidents. Just turn off those scary CNN new reports that were designed to make you live in fear and have some fun! When we are done, then you can join the other 27,000 certified divers in the greater Houston area.
