Any experienced diver can experience total catastrophic buoyancy or drysuit failure as quickly as you scrape against a piece of ship wreck steel or hit the cave ceiling hard. Those few pounds of fabric, and plastic parts are not as tough as you think when it's dark and cold inside a wreck or cave. Deep over head environments are not forgiving!
Diving in a wetsuit, is like diving without buoyancy control should your BCD become damaged or punctured. You don't have to take our word for it, just ask any DEAD cave or wreck diver. This means your pinned to the bottom and you might just end up there forever if you cannot swim your rig back to the surface.
What makes you think your tough enough to perform a free swimming ascent out of a ship wreck or a cave when your wearing over 130 pounds of gear, when you are still
having to use a dolly with wheels just to move your tanks around to the entry point?
Sure, you can save a few dollars by NOT purchasing a reserve parachute when your skydiving. You could also save a few dollars while wreck diving with a single air cell BCD as well. If you have a drysuit, some luck, and the right skills, you MIGHT be able to use your drysuit as a buoyancy back up. With the Eagle Z1-TW you don't have too!
